Services

AI pipelines, embedded software, and the interfaces that carry them — one engineer, full lifecycle.

build the pipeline

Generative AI development pipelines

Pipelines built for you to own and operate, run as an agile, iterative process: agents shorten each iteration, so features take less time to develop and test coverage goes up. The same workflows drive full-lifecycle builds in house, with design, acceptance criteria, and ship approval staying with the engineer.

harden the agents

AI agent security & oversight

Security evaluation of agentic systems and AI-assisted pipelines: supply-chain scanning, agent sandboxing/isolation, oversight and guardrail design.

bring up the board

Embedded software

Embedded Linux (custom BSPs, board bring-up), C/C++/Python systems software, and device and firmware development.

design the interface

UI/UX consulting

Full service: complete interface design, refactoring existing interfaces, or adding new features to what you already run.

ship the site

Web design and hosting

Domain acquisition, email, and monthly hosting, with custom page design and deployment. This site was built with the same web development pipeline.

bring the problem

Engineering services

Software or hardware, inside these domains or beyond them. Open to new problems.

No published price list — engagements scoped via statement of work.

Recent work

Current engagements and tools in daily use. Client names withheld until there is permission to share them.

Agentic agile process toolkit

Consulting on an agentic agile process toolkit for generative AI development — a full agentic pipeline that lets sprints of work complete in days rather than weeks, with a human still in the loop.

AI usage evaluation tools

Consulting on agentic tools that evaluate how AI tools are being used: usage metrics, feedback on prompt quality, and whether a task could have run on a cheaper model.

Website generation pipeline

An AI pipeline that generates websites for small businesses — rapid prototypes so you can see what is possible, then a second toolset to build the final site, backend, and management interfaces. This site is one of its outputs.

Proofs of concept and demos

Generative AI coding tools used daily for the past year to produce proofs of concept and customer demos that resulted in securing high-value contracts.

Internal security tooling

A multi-agent open-source security evaluation pipeline, AI-powered security auditing that elevates findings to the engineer, agent sandboxing, and an agentic coding assistant.

Why this engineer

  • 20+ years of professional software/systems engineering (embedded Linux, C/C++, Python, RF/comms systems).
  • Hands-on with agentic tooling: a year of generative AI coding tools in daily use, two current consulting engagements on agentic process and evaluation toolkits, and internal security tooling built from scratch.
  • One engineer, full lifecycle: clients work directly with the person doing the work, from architecture through delivery — no handoffs.
  • Experience interfacing with large Fortune 500 companies, startups, and small businesses — from large-organization rigor to small-team delivery.

Founder

Founded 2026 on 20+ years of engineering experience.

Black-and-white portrait of Sean Farner in front of a backdrop of the Farner Intelligent Systems logo.

Sean Farner grew up in Pittsburgh and studied at Rochester Institute of Technology, leaving with a BS in software engineering, minors in computer engineering and communications, and an AAS in electrical engineering technology. His work has focused in the embedded world, bridging the gap between hardware and software. He moved to Florida’s Space Coast in 2013, and still stops by Kennedy Space Center to hear astronauts talk about their time in orbit.

The twenty-plus years since have run through medical middleware, copiers, RF radios, operating systems, robotics and drones, and private cellular networks. It can look scattered from outside, but electrical and computer engineering taught the layers everything else is built on, and hardware, operating systems and networks each reward the same close reading. Knowing how they behave makes it possible to follow a problem from one end of a system to the other, catching the next issue before it becomes one.

Curious by nature, and lucky to have found new challenges at the right time. That curiosity currently points at AI — a year of daily generative AI tooling, two current agentic consulting engagements, and the pipelines under Recent work are what it has produced so far. In three years, he expects the domain to look nothing like it does today. There are problems in it still to be discovered before they can be solved, and he intends to be ready to help build that world.

How engagements work

Getting started

It starts with a call, and basic scoping is free. The more you can describe up front — the problem, the expected use case — the faster the scope becomes real. Work begins from an agreed scope, written into the contract in clear language at an agreed price.

Engagement shape

From fast-turnaround prototypes to long-term staff augmentation. Both are on the table; the scope decides which. Augmentation here adds a senior engineer and his agentic pipeline, so the team’s throughput goes up, not just its headcount.

Delivery cadence

Deliveries land weekly, biweekly, or at agreed milestones, depending on scope. Fifteen percent of contract time is reserved for working directly with you — reviews, questions, and changes of direction.

Human in the loop

Agents handle rapid prototyping and integration. Design, acceptance criteria, and approval of the code that ships stay with the senior engineer. The human in the loop is what adds structure and twenty years of best practices.

Decisions and ownership

You have the final say. Recommendations come with the work, but the product exists to solve your problem. You retain the IP, and an NDA is in place at project start.

When a project needs more

He does not claim to be an expert in everything. After 20+ years he has a network he trusts, and additional engineers or domain specialists can be brought in on a consultant basis when a project calls for it.
